Bikers for Education Poker Run

Are you ready to ride? Bikers for Education is all revved up for its fourth annual Poker Run on Saturday, June 4, 2011. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the ride begins at 10 a.m. from Maverick Motorsports Harley Davidson in Cheyenne. Cards will be drawn at Polaris Suzuki of Cheyenne, Bloedorn Lumber Company, T Joe’s Steakhouse & Saloon, and Jackson’s Sports Grill, with the last card drawn by 1:30 p.m. at The Bunkhouse Bar & Grill. The ride is $10 per hand, and raffle tickets also will be sold for a chance to win a new 2010 Crossrunner scooter donated by Spradley Barr Motors, Inc., and other great prizes donated by local businesses and restaurants. A special lunch will be offered for sale to participants at The Bunkhouse Bar & Grill with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the scholarship fund. The results of the poker hands and raffle winners will be announced at 2 p.m. All proceeds from the raffle sales and poker run will benefit the Bikers for Education Scholarship Fund at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne. Each year, the scholarship will be awarded to an LCCC student who shows a financial need, maintains a minimum GPA of 2.0 and has completed or renewed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In 2010, the ride had more than 80 participants and raised $4,100, which was matched by the State of Wyoming Matching the Spirit campaign.
