The Leah Hoover Memorial Ride is in memory of Leah Hoover, 20, who died in a house fire. It will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2008 in Martinsburg, PA. Starting and ending at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park at 201 South Walnut Street in Martinsburg. Overnight camping and activities will be available on September 13th. Registration will be from 10:00 a.m. to noon on September 14th. The funds raised go toward community improvements such as thermal imaging cameras and night vision for our fire and police departments. The rider price of $20 includes a free T-shirt (if pre-registered), meal, dice rolls, and door prize ticket. Passenger price is $15 which includes meal, dice rolls, and door prize ticket. The ride will be followed by a meal, motorcycle games, and door prizes at the park’s pavilion. Vendors will be on display. A downloadable registration form may be found on-line. Poker Run for the Hometown National Guard Unit. Registration starts at 10AM at the Tamaqua American Legion on 206 W. Broad St. Donations of $15 per rider and $5 per passenger. The funds raised are going to a home cooked meal for the troops on their return from Afghanistan.
