Bike Week - Biketoberfest - Americade Week - Myrtle Beach Bike Week and the Laughlin River Run. Sowrides
gives motorcycle event organizers the very
best online exposure–and best of all, its
FREE. Sowrides lists
events for ALL brands of motorcycles.
So if you're tired of surfing multiple event
web sites in search of United States motorcycle
events, then you've come to the right place.
What's the gimmick, you ask? There simple
is none. Sowrides creates revenue from our
on-line magazine "Sowrides E-vents" and
from Advertisements and Store items. You get
great event listings FREE!
Sowrides will do its very best to list
the most accurate and up-to-date motorcycle
events possible. Sowrides can't always guarantee
the reliability of all posted event information.
You should call, e-mail, or visit the event's
web site for additional information before
making your final riding plans.
Other
Event Sites : Ask yourself
this question: Would you rather list your
event on a web site that's dedicated to motorcycle
events exclusively, or just roll the dice with one of the hundreds of other web
sites that list events just to help drive more
traffic to sell you something, where your event
gets lost deep in the back of their
real content? It shouldn't take a rocket scientist
to figure that one out! Just think of it, one
web site with every United States motorcycle
event listed! That's Sowrides mission. At Sowrides,
we take a different approach to posting events
on our site. At Sowrides, one to two weeks
after an event's date has past, we move the
event to our "Past Events" pages. Sowrides
believes our users don't want to waste their
valuable time scrolling down long lists of
events whos dates have already come and gone.
If you're interested in past events, Sowrides
keeps all the past years' events on our "Past
Events" pages. So don't be fooled by
those other web sites that list motorcycle
events from years past, just to collect content. You'll
only find the most current events on the planet
on Sowrides.
Great Places To Ride : How to use our new “Great Places To Ride” section.
Click on the “Great Places To Ride” link and select a state to view the posted rides for that State. Once you have selected a ride, click on the “View Direction” for a printer-friendly route. Or click on the “Detailed Text directions”, “Map PDF” or “GPS Files” links for more downloadable options for that ride.
You may also “Post a New Ride” of your own and opt in for email feedback from other riders that may have comments or suggestions about your posted ride.
To
Post an Event : If you would
like to post a motorcycle event, this is how
it works. All event listings are FREE!
Just click on the "Post
Your Event" link, fill in the form fields
and click submit. All fields require that
you fill them in. Once an event date has past,
the event is moved to our "Past
Events" pages for the remainder of
that calendar year. All Sowrides asks in return
is that you mention our web site to other
event organizers and all your friends to help
promote this site. Help Sowrides to help you–please promote Sowrides and Spread the Word.
Event
Definitions
Poker
Runs : A ride in which you
pay an entry fee, which is usually donated to
a charity. You are given a map showing the
ride's route you will follow or the route may
be arrowed. Riders ride out in small groups
and along the route there are five stops,
were you draw a playing card or receive a
token/raffle ticket. Each card you draw or
token/raffle ticket you collect is marked
on a score card that you turn in at the Poker
Run finish. The top three poker hands win
trophies and / or merchandise. All participants
are usually treated to lunch, music venders and games.
Runs
: A ride in which you show
up at a gathering location (start), large parking
lot, or field. You pay an entry fee that usually
is donated to a charity. Most times you are
given a wristband showing you donated or paid
the entry fee. You are then guided to a staging
area to await the start of the ride. Motorcycles
then leave the staging area following a guide
or leader single file or two abreast. These
rides usually end at a different location
where food, live bands, and games of all sorts
await.
Touring
Rallies : These events are
held all across the United States, Canada,
and overseas. They can last a few days or
as long as two weeks. You can bring your own
bike or have a bike rental waiting. Most are
guided tours that follow a pre-planned route
that stop at interesting places and end each
night at a bed and breakfast or hotel. The
most common organizers for such events are
"H.O.G." Harley Owners Group® www.hog.com
and the AMA "American Motorcycle Association"
www.ama-cycle.org.
Jamborees
- Rodeos : These gatherings
vary in length from a one-day event to several
days. They usually consist of bike games,
live bands, and motorcycle rodeo games.
Bike
Weeks : Sometimes called the
big five–Daytona Beach Bike Week held in
Florida, Sturgis Rally held in South Dakota,
Laconia Motorcycle Rally held in New Hampshire,
Myrtle Beach Bike Week held in South Carolina
and the Laughlin River Run held in Nevada.
These events typically run five to seven days
and draw hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists
from all across the United States and around
the world. They can include live bands, bike
shows, motorcycle games, all sorts of motorcycle
related vendors and dealers, and various
motorcycle races. These events make great
vacations for the whole family, but most prefer
to leave the kids at home.
Swap
Meets : Gatherings where an
entrance fee is usually paid. Vendors set
up to sell and trade new and used motorcycle
parts and accessories. Most meets provide
food and music. Great place to go if you're
restoring an old bike.
